Only 1 week prior to being inspected, a new member of staff began work to lead the management of the café, as we were aware that current staff were struggling to keep up with the paperwork and the systems and processes needed.

It was a difficult year in 2025, as the World of Glass, and therefore the café as well, were on the brink of closing due to lack of funding. Therefore management had to focus their time and attention on fundraising and supporting the charity to remain open. However, recognising the problems, and that more attention was needed to keep up our excellent standards in the café, we went out to recruit a manager, whose role would be to improve standards. This person started a week prior to the inspection and therefore wasn’t able to make any noticeable changes in time. However, in the 5 weeks since, we have entirely retrained the staff, implemented new systems and processes, and deep cleaned the kitchen. We plan on requesting a re-visit very shortly as we are certain our rating will significantly improve.
